It all began in the markets of Provence. With an alembic, a small truck and a solid knowledge of plants, a 23 year old Olivier Baussan began distilling rosemary essential oil to sell locally. He expanded his production, taking inspiration from the land he grew up on, bringing natural beauty to homes across the world. Today this vision stays true to the origins of the brand. L’Occitane’s heart remains rooted in the warm, colourful, spirited, authentic nature and traditions of Mediterranee.

Founded by Olivier Baussan in 1976, L’OCCITANE (pronounced Lox-ee-tan) brings you the magic of Provence captured in unique skincare, bodycare, handcare and fragrance products made from the finest and most effective ingredients.

L’OCCITANE products are rich in natural ingredients that are high-quality and traceable, with over 300 ingredients of plant origin and over 40 organic and AOC labeled ingredients. Each collection tells an ingredient story, from the Provencal harvests and sustainable development to the forgotten or threatened traditional cultivations. These ingredients are grown, picked and preserved by a community of Mediterranean producers all known by name, with direct sourcing and traceability from their 50 partner producers and pickers.
