About Ellesse
In 1959, Ellesse was founded by ski enthusiast and tailor Leonardo Servadio in Perugia, Italy. He had a dream of creating the world’s most stylish sportswear that could break the boundaries between fashion and sport. The name Ellesse derives from Servadio’s initials, “L.S.”.
Ellesse’s popularity grew during the 1970s as a producer of fashionable skiwear, such as the ‘Jet Pant’ featuring padded knees and a wide lower leg to fit around a ski boot. The 1980s saw the Ellesse conquer the tennis scene, with legends like Boris Becker and Pat Cash endorsing the brand.
The semi-palla logo references these two sports by combining the form of a tennis ball flanked with the tips of a pair of skis. It was one of the first sportswear brands to feature its logo prominently on the outside of its garments.
Over the years, Ellesse has gained a reputation for combining sportswear functionality with street-level fashion styling and today designing sports-inspired clothing with style continues to be Ellesse’s focus, reflecting its founder Leonardo’s commitment to great design and high quality.
